Microsoft Worldwide Innovative Teacher Award 2006 to Mobile learning solution
The Brieftec Binder mobile and web based learning environment, was launched into the market this Autumn and has received international recognition by receiving the Microsoft Worldwide Innovative Teachers Award 2006 - in the community innovation category. The Award was received by one of the educational developers of the Binder solution Project manager Pasi Mattila from the City of Oulu Moop-project. The award was given on the 17th of November at Microsoft Partners in Learning Worldwide Innovative Teachers Forum 2006, Philadelphia, USA.
The Microsoft partners in Learning Innovative teacher forum is a recognized body of teachers interested in furthering their professional capabilities and education possibilities. Since 2002, the Microsoft Innovative Teachers program has connected communities of educators who share a common interest in the enhancement of teaching and learning through the use of technology. The program combines classroom learning with new technologies.
The awarded Brieftec Binder is a software solution for a mobile and web environment encouraging active learning, through which camera phones and new communication devices, are combined as part of the student learning process. Through the solution, students can take observations within the safe, teacher set boundaries, fostering their own creativity. The observations can consist of photos, video clips, dictations and text. The observations are enriched with automatic GPS-location data and stored into servers. While observations are stored, students can categorical, modify and share the taken observations with their peers. The observations taken by students are valuable thus they represent the creativity and perception of an individual student not just a picture in workbook.

The Binder-solution development has been of interest and gratitude among teachers all over the world, but these kinds of international merits finally shows, that we have succeeded.
